Vijayawada: A devastating collision involving two trucks and a private bus in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district has resulted in the loss of six lives and left 15 others injured in the early hours of Saturday, according to police reports.
The tragic incident unfolded near the Kavali-Musunuru Toll Plaza when one of the trucks collided head-on with the bus, leading to a catastrophic impact.
Initial investigations suggest that the sequence of events began with one truck rear-ending another that was stationary. Subsequently, the second truck collided with the bus traveling in the opposite direction on the adjacent lane.
The force of the collision left the front portion of the bus severely mangled, prompting a swift response from law enforcement authorities who initiated rescue operations. The injured were promptly transported to nearby medical facilities, with the condition of some victims reported as critical.
The ill-fated bus, operated by a private travel company, was en route from Chennai to Hyderabad with a total of 42 passengers on board.
The aftermath of the accident caused a significant traffic backlog along the highway, with vehicles bound for Vijayawada from Nellore caught in a two-kilometer-long gridlock.
Expressing deep sorrow and condolences, Governor S. Abdul Nazeer conveyed his sympathies to the grieving families affected by the tragedy, underscoring the profound impact of the unfortunate incident on the community.
