Islamabad: Clashes between protestors and police in Pakistan’s North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province resulted in at least eight individuals sustaining injuries on Saturday, as reported by local media.
According to accounts, hundreds of demonstrators were rallying and vocalizing grievances regarding the delayed announcement of election results when law enforcement authorities resorted to firing to disperse the crowd. The gunfire left several protestors wounded, as per news agency.
Among the injured are police personnel and a former member of the National Assembly, the lower house of Pakistan’s Parliament.
Official sources informed that the police resorted to firing as hundreds of protestors attempted to breach an army camp in the Miranshah area of North Waziristan.
