9 Workers Trapped in Turkish Gold Mine Landslide

Ankara: A devastating incident unfolded in the Ilic district of eastern Turkey’s Erzincan Province, as at least nine workers were reportedly trapped in a landslide at a gold mine on Tuesday, according to local media sources citing authorities.

Erzincan Governor Hamza Aydogdu addressed reporters, indicating that between nine to twelve workers may be caught beneath the earth, although the precise count remains uncertain at this juncture.

Bekir Aksun, the mayor of the province’s capital, affirmed reports of nine individuals being trapped, underscoring the severity of the situation.

Urgent measures were swiftly initiated, with multiple search and rescue teams mobilized to the site to assess and respond to the unfolding crisis, as per the report.
