Severe Weather Alert: Heavy Rains Forecast in Himachal Pradesh Until Sunday

Delhi: The meteorological department has issued a forecast indicating that Himachal Pradesh will experience heavy rains until Sunday. Consequently, the government has advised people to avoid unnecessary travel across the state during this period.

According to an official from the meteorological department, the entire state is expected to encounter heavy spells of rainfall starting from Friday. Specific districts like Chamba, Kangra, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur, Solan, and Sirmaur may witness isolated spells of very heavy rainfall, while Una, Hamirpur, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall in the next 24-48 hours.

In the subsequent three-four days, most parts of the state are expected to have light to moderate precipitation accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. However, the average maximum and minimum temperatures are anticipated to remain normal during this period.

Due to the expected heavy rainfall, there is a possibility of disruptions to traffic and essential services in the state. Moreover, the Meteorological Office has warned of potential flash floods in districts such as Kangra, Chamba, Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Sirmaur, Solan, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti. Residents and travelers are urged to exercise caution and stay updated with the latest weather advisories to ensure their safety during this period of inclement weather.
