Major Arms and Ammunition Haul in Manipur: 8 Firearms and 112 Types of Ammunition Seized

Imphal: A significant operation by the police in Imphal, Manipur has resulted in the recovery of eight advanced firearms, 112 varieties of ammunition, and a substantial cache of explosives. These items were discovered in the Bishnupur and Imphal West districts.

In an effort to neutralize potential threats, security forces also took down six unauthorized bunkers, believed to have been constructed by the assailants. These bunkers were situated in the Tengnoupal district, which shares a border with Myanmar.

Reports have indicated sporadic firing incidents in various districts, although no casualties have been reported thus far. In a parallel operation, the Narcotics and Border Affairs wing personnel successfully seized quantities of drugs in Imphal East district. The individuals taken into custody are residents of both Manipur and Assam.

This operation highlights the continuous efforts of law enforcement agencies to maintain security and counter illicit activities in the region. The recovery of arms, ammunition, explosives, and drugs underscores the complex challenges that authorities face in safeguarding the region’s stability and public safety.
