Gaighata: In a troubling development, Dr. Subrata Sarkar, a prominent member of Trinamool Congress, has been arrested on allegations of molestation. Dr. Sarkar, a former member of Gaighata Panchayat Samiti in the Bangaon sub-division, faced legal action following a complaint by a 24-year-old woman who accused him of molestation.
According to local law enforcement sources, the victim and her family filed a complaint at Gaighata Police Station recounting the incident. The victim had visited the doctor’s chamber for a medical examination, and it was during this encounter that the accused doctor took advantage of the situation. In the vacant chamber, he allegedly attempted to molest her on a Saturday evening.
Fortunately, the woman managed to escape from his clutches and returned home. She promptly shared the harrowing experience with her family, who were initially in shock. This was because Dr. Sarkar had been their family physician for a considerable period, making the allegations all the more distressing.
