New Delhi: Amid the recent controversy surrounding alleged hacking attempts on the phones of prominent personalities, including Priyanka Chaturvedi, Mahua Moitra, Shashi Tharoor, and Sitaram Yechuri, JD-U has called on the Centre to provide clarification. The hacking incidents have raised concerns as Apple, the iPhone manufacturer, alerted the individuals that these were state-sponsored attempts.
Speaking on the matter, JD-U’s spokesperson Kumar emphasized the need for the Centre to address the issue promptly. He expressed, “Such an act is dangerous for the democracy of the country.”
Earlier today, several Opposition leaders claimed to have received alerts from Apple indicating hacking attempts on their iPhones. They also pointed fingers at the Central Government, alleging its involvement in espionage activities.
Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, taking to a social media platform, voiced her concerns about the authenticity of the warning messages. She raised serious questions about the government’s focus on targeting the Opposition instead of potential threats to the nation’s security. Chaturvedi revealed that she was not alone in receiving such notifications, as many MPs and prominent Opposition figures had also been alerted.
She remarked, “The warning last night shows that this is a sponsored program of the central government, and that I need to take precautions! The warning clearly says that this is state-sponsored. Why are leaders of the Opposition parties getting such messages? This shows that large-scale surveillance is underway. There should be an investigation on this, and the Centre should give clarification on the same.”
Numerous leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sitaram Yechuri, Asaduddin Owaisi, Shashi Tharoor, and Mahua Moitra, expressed their strong reactions to the issue, demanding transparency and accountability from the government.
