Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated coordinated raids on 13 locations, including the residences and offices of Karnataka Congress MLA, Nara Bharat Reddy, in Bellary and Bengaluru. The search operations, which commenced on Saturday, also target properties belonging to Reddy’s father, Surya Narayana Reddy, paternal uncle Pratap Reddy, and relative Satish Reddy.
Four specialized teams, comprising a total of 20 ED officers, arrived in Bellary early in the morning to execute the raids. The operations are being conducted under the supervision of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Nara Bharat Reddy, who represents the Bellary city constituency, had disclosed assets and properties valued at Rs 91.18 crore. His victory in the Assembly elections saw him triumph over Gali Janardhana Reddy’s wife, Gali Lakshmi Aruna, a notable mining baron-turned-politician.
As the raids unfold, attention is focused on uncovering potential financial irregularities or undisclosed assets linked to Nara Bharat Reddy and his associates. The ED’s actions underscore the agency’s commitment to investigating matters of financial impropriety and upholding transparency in public office.
