CAA Implementation Prior to Lok Sabha Elections: Amit Shah

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asserted that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) will be enforced ahead of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April-May this year. Shah declared that the law, passed in 2019, will be implemented post the issuance of requisite regulations.

Addressing concerns surrounding the CAA, Shah emphasized that the legislation is solely aimed at granting citizenship to individuals who faced persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, dismissing claims of it jeopardizing the citizenship of any Indian national.

“Our Muslim brothers are being misinformed and incited against the CAA,” Shah stated, clarifying its humanitarian purpose.

Looking ahead to the forthcoming general elections, Shah expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prospects, predicting a resounding victory. He attributed this anticipated success to the BJP-led government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, projecting that the party would secure 370 seats in the Lok Sabha. Additionally, Shah forecasted that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would garner over 400 seats collectively.

Asserting the inevitability of the election outcome, Shah claimed that even the Congress and its allies have acknowledged the likelihood of returning to the opposition benches.
