New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Monday held a high-level meeting with the state’s Members of Parliament and Union Ministers at Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi to seek the Centre’s approval and financial support for 13 major infrastructure projects and several pending state Bills.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister urged the Centre to release ₹2,186.20 crore to Gram Panchayats under the 15th Finance Commission and sought Union Cabinet approval for the ₹9,613-crore Bengaluru Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR) project. He also requested approval for the procurement of 153 railway coaches for the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project and the establishment of the Kolar Railway Coach Factory.
The discussions also covered the reopening of HAL Airport for commercial operations, approval of 176 projects worth ₹16,561 crore under the Sagarmala 2.0 programme, establishment of an AIIMS in Raichur, ₹1,438.59 crore assistance for controlling pests affecting coconut and arecanut crops, and ₹300 crore under the CAMPA scheme for relocating families from Kudremukh National Park.
The Chief Minister further sought the transfer of Defence Department land to the state, approval for the Bengaluru–Mysuru and Bengaluru–Mumbai high-speed rail corridors, and release of funds under the ICJS 2.0 and ASUMP projects aimed at modernising the state’s police infrastructure.
Shivakumar also pressed for early approval of four pending state legislations—the Free and Compulsory Education (Karnataka Amendment) Bill, 2015, Karnataka Mineral Rights and Mineral-rich Land Tax Bill, 2024, Drugs and Cosmetics (Karnataka Amendment) Bill, 2025, and Notaries (Karnataka Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Appealing for bipartisan cooperation, the Chief Minister urged MPs and Union Ministers to work together to secure the Centre’s support for Karnataka’s development, protect the state’s interests, and promote the welfare of its people.
