New Delhi: Following an inconclusive second round of talks with farmer union leaders on Monday, Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda emphasized that the government remains open to discussing the demands put forth by farmers.
Accompanied by Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Piyush Goyal, Munda stated that the discussions in Chandigarh delved into various pertinent issues, with the government’s intention being to find solutions through dialogue.
While some agreements were reached during the meeting, Munda highlighted the proposal to form a committee to address certain unresolved matters for a permanent solution.
Expressing optimism in resolving issues through dialogue, Munda reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of farmers and the public.
However, Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) Coordinator Jagjit Singh Dallewal expressed disappointment, stating that no new proposals were presented during the meeting. Dallewal accused the government of prolonging discussions without making concrete decisions, prompting the continuation of protests.
Despite the setback, Dallewal affirmed plans to proceed with the protest march towards Delhi on February 13, underscoring the farmers’ determination to pursue their demands.
