Bengaluru: In a significant announcement, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declared that the portrait of Vishwa Guru Basavanna will be prominently displayed in all government offices starting February 17.
During the unveiling ceremony of Karnataka cultural leader Sri Jagajyoti Basavanna’s portrait, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of adopting Basavanna’s principles, urging citizens to embrace compassion and reject hatred.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to societal transformation, Siddaramaiah noted the renaming of the old jail premises in Shivamogga as Allama Prabhu and the establishment of Akka Mahadevi University in Bijapur under their administration. He underscored that such initiatives aim to instigate positive change in society and ensure the perpetuity of Basavadi Sharanas’ teachings.
Asserting the government’s unwavering support, Siddaramaiah assured that funds for Basavanna’s programs will not be lacking. He hailed Basavanna as a Karnataka cultural leader, alongside iconic figures like Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, and Ambedkar, attributing to him the relentless pursuit of a just and compassionate social order.
In commemorating Basavanna’s legacy, the government seeks to uphold his vision of equality and dignity for all, ensuring his teachings remain timeless and relevant in shaping a harmonious society.
