Srinagar: As light rain graced the plains of Jammu & Kashmir on Sunday, snowfall commenced in the higher elevations, transforming the landscape into a winter wonderland.
The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast predicting widespread rain and snow across the union territory from Sunday through Wednesday.
In Srinagar, the minimum temperature dipped to 5.8 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg recorded a chilly minus 1.4 degrees Celsius and Pahalgam registered 2.5 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, in the Ladakh region, Leh experienced a minimum temperature of minus 1.5 degrees Celsius, with Kargil not far behind at 2.8 degrees Celsius.
Down in the plains, Jammu city maintained a relatively warmer 13 degrees Celsius, Katra recorded 11.8 degrees Celsius, Batote stood at 8.1 degrees Celsius, Bhaderwah cooled down to 2.4 degrees Celsius, and Banihal recorded 7 degrees Celsius as the minimum temperature.
As snowfall adorns the higher reaches and rain showers grace the plains, residents and visitors alike brace themselves for the serene beauty and potential disruptions that winter weather brings to the region.
