Gaza: The death toll among Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has reached 28,985, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry.
In a press release sent to the news agency, the Ministry reported on Sunday that a staggering 68,883 Palestinians have been wounded in the coastal enclave since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7, 2023.
The Ministry added that in the past 24 hours alone, the Israeli army has killed 127 Palestinians and injured 205 others, as reported by news agency.
Tragically, some victims remain trapped under rubble due to heavy bombardment and a lack of access for civil defense and ambulance crews.
Additionally, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that Al-Amal Hospital in the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza witnessed several direct attacks from Israeli tanks.
According to a press statement by the association, Israeli forces targeted the fourth floor of the hospital, causing significant material damage and igniting a blaze on the eastern side of the building. This resulted in patients being trapped along with medical staff, who managed to evacuate them at great risk.
The statement further noted that gunfire targeted the hospital’s fuel tanks, hampering the assessment of damages due to safety concerns.
The ongoing conflict stems from Israel’s large-scale offensive against Hamas in response to a Hamas incursion through the southern Israeli border on October 7, 2023, during which approximately 1,200 people were killed, and over 200 were taken hostage.
