Mohammed Shami Successfully Undergoes Heel Surgery in the UK

Mumbai: Indian pace bowler Mohammed Shami underwent a successful surgery on his heel to repair his Achilles tendon in the United Kingdom. Sharing updates on his social media platforms, Shami informed fans about the operation and expressed optimism about his recovery despite acknowledging that it would take some time.

The injury, sustained during India’s 2023 ODI World Cup campaign, has sidelined him from all forms of cricket since November 19, when India faced Australia in the final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Shami’s absence extended to the subsequent T20I series against Australia and the South Africa tour.

Despite hopes of returning for the Test series against England, the severity of the injury necessitated surgery, ruling him out of the entire five-match series. Shami remains determined to regain full fitness and make a strong comeback to cricket once he completes his recovery process.
