Hyderabad: A devastating accident shook Telangana’s Wanaparthy district early Monday morning, resulting in the loss of five lives as a car collided with a tree on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru national highway near Kothakota. The speeding vehicle veered out of control before striking the roadside tree, leaving seven others injured.
Among the casualties were three children, identified as Yasir (7 months), Bushra (2 years), and Maria (5 years), along with Abdul Rehman (62) and Saleema Bee (85).
The injured, including Sameera (5), Hussain (10), Sahfi, Khadeerunnisa, Habeeb, Ali, and Shahjan Baig, were promptly rushed to hospitals, with three of them reported to be in critical condition. Six of the injured were transferred to a hospital in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, while one was admitted to the Wanaparthy hospital.
Originating from Bellary district in Karnataka, the victims were returning home after attending a wedding in Hyderabad. The accident occurred between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m., with twelve individuals aboard the ill-fated car. Police suspect driver fatigue as a contributing factor to the tragic collision.
The car sustained extensive damage in the accident, necessitating strenuous efforts by rescue workers to extricate the victims and provide aid to the injured, highlighting the severity of the incident and the challenges faced in its aftermath.
