New Delhi, Sep 29 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday lashed out at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal, saying he has proved himself an “urban Naxal” by making objectionable remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kejriwal, on Monday, triggered a row by warning of violence against PM Modi and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar amid a political dispute over reports of differences within the Election Commission of India (ECI), which the poll panel has denied.
Reacting to the AAP chief’s remarks, BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal said the words Kejriwal used for PM Modi are “extremely shameful”.
“Arvind Kejriwal is the most disgraced politician in the country. Difference of opinion can exist, but the words with which he insulted a father-like figure; he should really think about his upbringing,” he told IANS.
Delhi Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood added: “He has not made an allegation. He has behaved rudely. Arvind Kejriwal forgets that he once held a constitutional post. He was the Chief Minister of Delhi and calls himself the national president of a political party. The kind of derogatory words he has used show his anarchist mindset.”
Referring to the AAP chief as ‘Naraz fufa’ and an urban Naxal, he said: “People of Delhi know that Arvind Kejriwal is currently feeling frustrated, out of place and is trying to find his relevance, even among the opposition parties…he is proving himself as an urban Naxal through such remarks.”
Echoing a similar view, BJP MLA Abhay Verma said: “Kejriwal ji’s mindset appears unclear. He himself has held a constitutional position, but this is the first time we are seeing someone use such condemnable words and go below the belt while speaking about the Prime Minister.”
He further said that such remarks don’t suit a former CM and accused Kejriwal of attempting to “malign” the Prime Minister’s name.
Referring to the slapping incident involving Delhi Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, the BJP MLA said: “We don’t support any wrong action, but the way Kejriwal ji attempted to drag the Prime Minister into the matter and spoke like a ‘tapori’, it is extremely condemnable.”
BJP national spokesperson Tuhin Sinha accused Kejriwal and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi of attempting to create a “Dimagi Naxal ecosystem”.
“Using such words for an elected Prime Minister means directly inciting violence,” he told IANS.
