New Delhi: Protest leader Sarwan Singh Pandher announced on Sunday that the ‘Dilli Chalo’ march will recommence on March 6. This decision was made following the ‘bhog ceremony’ of a protester, Shubhkaran Singh, in Bathinda town, Punjab.
Pandher revealed that both the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (a non-political organization) have jointly decided that farmers from across the country will converge on Delhi on March 6. However, those currently stationed at the Punjab-Haryana borders will concentrate their protests at the Khanauri and Shambhu borders exclusively.
Addressing the media, Pandher outlined further plans, stating that on March 10, they intend to block rail tracks nationwide from 12 noon to 4 pm. He also highlighted restrictions imposed on protesters’ access to Delhi, clarifying that roads have not been physically obstructed.
The ‘Dilli Chalo’ march, led by farmers demanding a legal guarantee of the minimum support price for their crops, has been ongoing. Despite previous suspensions, the deadlock persists, with protesters renewing their commitment to pressuring the government until their demands are met.
Since February 13, protesters from Punjab have maintained their presence at the Khanauri and Shambhu points along the Punjab-Haryana border after their initial attempt to march to the national capital was halted by security forces.
