Israeli authorities have detained 22 Palestinians in the West Bank, with reports indicating that among them are individuals previously released during an Israel-Hamas truce in November last year, including a woman.
According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, a non-governmental organization, the arrests occurred across several cities in the West Bank, including Ramallah, Hebron, Nablus, Tulkarm, Qalqilya, and Jericho. Allegations of mistreatment during the arrests, including torture, beatings, home destruction, and seizure of assets, have been made, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Among those detained were Aman Nafe and Hanan al-Barghouti from Kobar village near Ramallah, both previously released in a hostage-for-prisoner swap during the temporary truce between Israel and Hamas in November. Mona Abu Hussein from Aboud village was also among those arrested.
Israeli military sources have confirmed the arrest of nine Palestinian prisoners released in the previous hostage-for-prisoner exchange, including three children and two women.
During the temporary ceasefire in November, 105 civilian hostages, including 81 Israelis, 23 Thais, and one Filipino, were released from Hamas captivity. Additionally, Palestinian prisoner affairs institutions reported that Israel released 240 Palestinian prisoners during the ceasefire, including 71 women and 169 children.
