Wayanad: Wayanad Lok Sabha MP, Rahul Gandhi, has penned a letter to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, advocating for a CBI investigation into the demise of J.S. Siddharth, a second-year BVSC student discovered deceased in his hostel room at the College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Pookode, on February 18.
Expressing deep concern over the tragic incident, Gandhi highlighted the alleged involvement of SFI members in Siddharth’s purported torment preceding his demise. He criticized both the university administration and law enforcement agencies for purportedly shielding the perpetrators instead of ensuring justice.
Gandhi stressed, “The Kerala government has a moral obligation to ensure impartiality. We insist on a thorough CBI inquiry into Siddarath’s death. The aspirations of our youth cannot be sacrificed for the sake of callous political agendas.”
In response to the incident, 18 individuals have been apprehended, and disciplinary actions have been taken against key institute figures including the Vice Chancellor, Dean, and Assistant Warden. Additionally, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has petitioned the Kerala High Court for an investigation conducted by either a sitting or retired judge from the high court or apex court.
