Washington: The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released data indicating that more than 100 flu-associated pediatric deaths have been recorded in the United States this flu season.
According to news agencies, seasonal influenza activity continues to remain elevated across the nation, with certain regions experiencing increases in flu cases.
The CDC’s estimates reveal staggering figures, with at least 28 million reported flu illnesses, 310,000 hospitalizations, and 20,000 deaths attributed to flu-related complications thus far this season.
In the latest week ending March 2, over 10,000 patients were admitted to hospitals due to flu-related illnesses, as reported by the CDC.
To combat the spread of influenza viruses, the CDC strongly recommends that individuals aged 6 months and older receive an annual flu vaccine. This preventive measure is emphasized as long as flu viruses continue to circulate within communities.
