K’taka Congress Gives With One Hand Through Guarantees, Takes Back Through Price Hikes: Dr Ravi C T

Chikkamagaluru: Former minister and MLC Dr Ravi C T has criticised the Congress government in Karnataka, alleging that it is offering benefits through its guarantee schemes while burdening people with repeated price hikes.

In a press statement, Ravi said increases in the prices of Nandini milk and curd, along with higher bus fares, had added to the financial strain on employees, students, labourers and rural households.

He said the price of Nandini toned milk had increased from Rs 46 to Rs 54 per litre, while curd had become costlier, rising from Rs 54 to Rs 68. State transport corporations had also raised bus fares by 15% in 2025, followed by another hike, he said.

Ravi further pointed to rising costs of petrol, diesel, electricity, water, metro travel and property taxes, alleging that these increases had made everyday living more expensive.

He said higher fuel and transport costs would also push up manufacturing and goods transportation expenses, eventually affecting consumers.

Ravi urged the state government to withdraw the recent price increases, including the bus fare hike, and ensure that essential commodities and public services remain affordable.
