Moscow: The Governor of Russia’s Murmansk region, Andrei Chibis, found himself targeted in a shocking stabbing incident following a meeting in the town of Apatity. Reports indicate that Chibis, aged 45, sustained serious injuries, with the assailant, Alexander Bydanov, being swiftly detained by security personnel at the scene.
Chibis is currently undergoing surgery in the intensive care unit and is described to be in a critical condition, as stated by Yuri Shiryaev, the chief doctor of Apatity-Kirov Hospital, according to Xinhua news agency.
The attack unfolded abruptly, without any demands or vocalized motivations from the perpetrator, as confirmed by the governor’s spokesperson. The quick response from a Russian National Guard officer led to the swift capture of the attacker.
