Broken wheat khichdi is very traditional and simple recipe. It is one of the healthy recipe too.  The broken wheat khichdi can make quickly so i am calling this is one pot meal for any busy days.

Usually khichdi are mixing of rice and other lentils, but i am using broken wheat, traditional moong dal, green peas and spices. For khichdi no need any side dishes or appetizer. We can serve with ghee or curd or raita or pickle.

I started the recipe with soaking the daliya or broken wheat and yellow moong dal for few minutes. Then prepared simple tempering, added spices and sprouted green peas to it. Then add soaked daliya and moong dal to it. Finally add the water to the dish, as khichdi needs little more water than rice baths. Because khichdi texture should be is like porridge.

Khichdi is a famous gujarati cuisine. Kids to adults, everyone likes khichdi to have. Me and my husband are huge fan of different type of khichdi. As it’s quick and simple to make, healthy and taste delicious too. When we go out and want to eat light, we prepare this type of khichdi.

In north india, it’s called daliya, in gujarati fada but we are calling broken wheat. It is also called by cracked wheat or bulgar, samba rava. Broken wheat is gives protein, fiber to body.

Khichdi is one of the fiber rich and low calorie food. Broken wheat khichdi is having nutrition to our body. Usually khichdi is done using rice and lentils. Broken wheat and moong dal are giving less carbohydrate compared to rice. So easily you can add in your diet list or diabetic patient easily east tasty food.
