Salna recipes are very easy and quick to make. Salna is called empty salna, parotta salna, plain salna, bucket salna. Different names are called for this recipe. In the restaurants salna are served by restaurants for parotta. Salna is spicy, tasty with crispy parotta.
Preparing the Salna doesn’t take much time. For slana we need to prepare fresh masala so this is fresh and delicious in taste. For masala just roast the ingredients like onion, dry coconut, coriander seeds, white sesame, jeera, saunf, and some spices and make a paste. Cashew nuts give a rich look and creamy texture to the gravy.
The salna doesn’t need any heavy or other vegetables other than onion and tomato.just saute onion and tomato and add ground paste of masala and boil. For spiciness add some red chili powder. Curry leaves give a good flavor to this recipe.
It is a popular street food in TamilNadu and Kerala. It is a great combination with parotta, chapathi, jeera rice, ghee rice adn etc. This is completely coconut based gravy. This salna is completely vegan and gluten free.
When you are preparing the salna do not add much oil in the beginning, while serving add oil to the top of gravy. It increases the cravings. If you want a restaurant to have salna you have to increase the oil quantity. If the vegetables are empty in the pantry then this is the perfect gravy.
Non vegetarian people just add the cooked chicken to this salna. You can increase the masala quantity and spiciness.
