Bijnor: In a devastating incident at Bijnor’s Harevali barrage, four individuals lost their lives when a speeding car collided with the bridge’s railings, plummeting approximately 30 feet into the Ramganga river. The victims, returning from a village fair, met with the tragic accident, attributed to the driver’s possible loss of control, likely due to speeding during the night, as revealed by the police on Thursday.
Of the five occupants in the car, four tragically drowned, while local divers heroically rescued one individual. The deceased were identified as Khursheed (45), Faisal (25), Rashid (22), and Mahruf (19), all hailing from Noorpur Chhipari village under Sherkot police limits. The lone survivor, Sikandar (22), recounted the harrowing experience, recalling how he managed to break open a window as the car sank, and a diver came to his rescue in a matter of seconds.
The ill-fated car, recently purchased, belonged to the village head Mohammad Rauf and was occupied by his sons, Sikandar and Mahruf, at the time of the tragic incident.
