Anees Bazmee celebrates 18 years of Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif-starrer ‘Singh Is Kinng’

Mumbai, Aug 8 (IANS) As “Singh Is Kinng” turned 18 on Saturday, filmmaker Anees Bazmee celebrated the moment and said the film will always be incredibly special to him for the memories it gave him.

Anees took to Instagram, where he shared a video from the making of the action comedy film, which also stars Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Om Puri, Ranvir Shorey, Neha Dhupia, Javed Jaffrey, Sonu Sood, Kirron Kher, and Sudhanshu Pandey.

He wrote in the caption: “Celebrating 18 years of Singh is Kinng. Some films become memories, and some become a part of your life. Singh is Kinng will always be incredibly special to me for the memories it gave me and, most importantly, for the love you all continue to shower on it even after 18 years.”

“From an incredible cast and crew to every single person who believed in this madness, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Forever grateful for the journey, the laughter, the memories, and all the love.”

The film follows Happy Singh who is sent to Australia to reunite Lakhanpal Singh, a crime boss, with his ill father but finds himself facing love and trouble instead. The film also featured a song and a music video with American rapper Snoop Dogg.

Talking about Bazmee, he made his directorial debut with Hulchul in 1995. His commercial success came in 1998 with the film Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of the year.

He achieved further success as well as recognition by directing the top-grossing comedies including No Entry, Welcome, Singh Is Kinng, Ready, Welcome Back, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, while also receiving praise for directing the moderately successful romantic thriller Deewangee.

His film Naam – The Missing Identity, an action thriller film, which stars Ajay Devgn, Sameera Reddy, Bhumika Chawla, Rahul Dev, Shriya Sharma, Yashpal Sharma, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, Mukesh Tiwari and Sharat Saxena.
