The schedule for the highly anticipated Men’s ODI Asia Cup 2023 has been announced, with India set to face Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy. The tournament will commence on August 30, with Pakistan taking on Nepal in Multan. The final match is scheduled for September 17 in Colombo.
Jay Shah took to Twitter to share the schedule, expressing his happiness and emphasizing the Asia Cup as a symbol of unity and togetherness that brings diverse nations together. He invited everyone to join in the celebration of cricketing excellence and cherish the bonds that connect us all.
The Asia Cup 2023 will be played in the 50-over format, serving as a precursor to the Men’s ODI World Cup, which will be held in India from October 5 to November 19.
The tournament will feature six teams: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal (the winners of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup). A total of 13 ODI matches will be played throughout the competition.
India, Pakistan, and Nepal have been grouped together in Group A, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will compete in Group B.
In the previous edition held in 2018 in the UAE, India emerged as the champions in the 50-over format. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, are the defending champions from the last year’s Asia Cup held in the 20-over format in the UAE.
