Moradabad: A BJP leader was tragically killed in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred while he was taking a stroll outside his apartment with his brother, Puneet, on a Thursday evening. Suddenly, three assailants on bikes appeared and unleashed a barrage of gunfire. Despite his brother’s swift efforts to rush him to a hospital, the leader ultimately succumbed to the gunshot wounds.
Hailing from Aliya Nekpur village in Sambhal, Anuj owned an apartment in a Moradabad society. His involvement in the local political scene was notable, having contested the block chief elections from Asmoli block in Sambhal district, albeit losing by a mere 17 votes.
Anuj had been an active and dedicated member of the party, consistently attending party meetings in Sambhal. Notably, he had recently taken a bold step by proposing a no-confidence motion against the incumbent block chief, a move believed to have triggered the unfortunate incident, according to his brother’s statement to the police.
In response to the incident, Moradabad’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hemraj Meena and City Superintendent of Police (SP) Akhilesh Bhadauria swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation. The deceased’s body was subsequently sent for autopsy to further ascertain the details of the tragedy.
SSP Meena stated, “The family filed a complaint naming Amit Chaudhary and Aniket, along with an unidentified individual. We have mobilized multiple teams to apprehend the suspects.” The authorities are now focused on bringing those responsible for the heinous act to justice.
