Murukku can make on Diwali, Navratri, or any other functional occasions in your home. And you can make chakli anytime. We can add red chilly powder, cumin powder, Hing, ajwain, etc. to enhance the taste of chakli. You can variation to this simple chakli recipe.

Soft murukku is liked by everyone. Kids love it because they can easily eat a soft and crunchy snack. We can easily store a month at room temperature. But you should keep it in an airtight container, in a warm and dry place. Chakli or murukku is long shelf life compared to other snacks.

If you are doing murukku in large numbers prepare the dough in batches. Otherwise it dough will become dry and while doing the murukku it will break. While leaving to oil apply the oil on hand for easy flowing.

Chakli is a famous Indian snack. This is also called mullu murukku. Murukku is a very old traditional recipe. The chakli or murukku is easy and simple to do. This snack is usually done by every Indian woman in every house.

Chakli is a mixing of rice flour and urad dal flour. Roasted Urad dal flour gives a nice aroma and taste to chakli. Urad dal and homemade butter help the chakli to be soft. Salt needed to be adjusted to our taste. Black sesame seeds are optional for the murukku. But remember one thing this increases the taste of murukku. Adding butter increases the softness of murukku.

The shaping of murukku is totally dependent upon our decision. If you want to make more chakli dough prepare in batches. Otherwise, it will lose moist and while doing murukku it will break. If it breaks then sprinkle some water and knead once again and press it in a presser. At last join the end otherwise it will open when you leave into the hot oil.

The rice flour and urad dal flour can be store-bought or homemade, I prefer to make it at the home. Make the flour super fine when you prepare chakli with homemade flour. The count of chakli may vary from the sizes of murukku. My family members like small size chakli’s well so i made small sizes.

The chakli is one of the fried snacks but it is not that much affected to our health when we do in-home with quality ingredients. Murukku will not absorb much oil if the prepared dough doesn’t contain water content. If you feel water is high, keep aside for some time which urad dal flour will absorb the excess water content making the dough ready for fry.

Try this recipe at home. I’m ending this blog with how to make simple basic murukku. Thank you for reading catch you in the next recipe.
