China has issued a renewed alert for Typhoon Khanun

Beijing: China has issued a renewed alert for Typhoon Khanun. The alert is in effect from 8 a.m. on Wednesday to 8 a.m. on Thursday. During this period, strong winds with speeds ranging from 39 to 74 km per hour are expected in several areas, including the Bashi Channel, the eastern areas of Taiwan island, most parts of the East Sea, waters near Diaoyu Island, the Hangzhou Bay, coastal areas of Zhejiang, and northern regions of Fujian. Northern parts of Taiwan island and coastal areas in the south may experience even stronger wind gusts surpassing 100 km per hour. The National Meteorological Center (NMC) has issued this warning.

In response to the potential impact of the typhoon, the Centre has advised the mentioned regions to make emergency preparations.


The NMC also warns of heavy downpours and rainstorms in other regions during the same time period. Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Hainan, and Taiwan are expected to be affected. Some areas in these regions may experience heavy rainfall, with maximum hourly precipitation surpassing 60 mm. These conditions will be accompanied by thunderstorms, gales, and hails.

The local governments in these areas have been urged to take proper precautions and fulfill their responsibilities accordingly. The Centre specifically advises schools and kindergartens to ensure the safety of students and children by implementing appropriate safety measures during the potential impact of the typhoon.
