Congress Stages Protest in Hyderabad Demanding Flood Relief

Hyderabad : Opposition party leaders and workers organized a protest rally in Hyderabad, starting from Gun Park near the Assembly building and heading towards GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) offices.

During the rally, some protestors attempted to enter the GHMC premises by climbing the gate, resulting in their detention by the police.

Notably, senior Congress leader and former MP, V. Hanumantha Rao, along with other party leaders, conducted a sit-in protest in front of the GHMC Commissioner’s chamber. They expressed their discontent with the Commissioner, Ronald Rose, accusing him of rejecting their representation.

Anjan Kumar Yadav, the working president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), demanded that the government promptly provide compensation to those affected by the recent heavy rains.

Yadav highlighted that numerous low-lying areas in and around the city had been inundated for the past ten days, yet the government had not taken any measures to assist the affected citizens.

The Congress party’s key demands include immediate financial aid of Rs 10,000 to each affected family and worker to alleviate their hardship.

Additionally, they called for the resignation of K. T. Rama Rao, the municipal administration minister, holding him responsible for the government’s failure to aid the affected people during the floods.
