
Chennai; A devastating fire engulfed a tourist train stationed near Madurai railway station in the early hours of Saturday on Bodi Lane. Tragically, ten lives were lost, and more than twenty individuals sustained injuries in this unfortunate incident, as reported by the news agency PTI. The victims’ bodies have been transferred to the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai, while ongoing rescue efforts persist.
According to authorities, the fire originated when a passenger attempted to use a gas stove to brew coffee. The situation quickly escalated, resulting in the catastrophe.
“At approximately 5:30 am today, a coach stationed at Madurai railway station caught fire. The coach was occupied by pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh. The ignition of a gas stove, intended for making coffee, led to a catastrophic gas cylinder explosion. Presently, we have recovered nine bodies,” stated Madurai District Collector MS Sangeetha,
