Washington: The United States has witnessed around 15,000 deaths attributed to the flu during this season, alongside an estimated 22 million flu cases and 250,000 hospitalizations, as per the latest figures released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Despite varied regional trends, seasonal influenza activity continues to be heightened across the nation, with certain areas experiencing increases.
According to the CDC data cited by news agency, eight deaths of children associated with influenza were reported in the most recent week ending February 3, bringing the total pediatric fatalities for the season to 74.
Furthermore, the data from the CDC reveals that over 11,000 individuals were admitted to hospitals due to flu-related complications during the latest reporting period.
In line with its ongoing recommendations, the CDC advocates for the annual flu vaccine for all individuals aged 6 months and older, particularly while influenza viruses continue to circulate.
