New Delhi: As the highly anticipated G20 summit unfolds between September 9 and 10, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended a warm welcome to leaders from across the globe. In a striking visual gesture, Modi stood before a colossal image of the Konark wheel, an iconic symbol from Odisha’s Sun Temple, to greet these world leaders with heartfelt handshakes.
The Konark wheel, a marvel constructed during the 13th century under the rule of King Narasimhadeva-I, boasts 24 spokes and holds a significant place in India’s heritage. Notably, it is also a fundamental element in India’s national flag, embodying the nation’s profound wisdom, advanced civilization, and architectural mastery.
The revolving motion of the Konark wheel carries deep symbolism, representing time, the Kalachakra, progress, and the ever-constant evolution of society. It serves as a potent emblem of the democratic wheel, illustrating the unwavering commitment to democratic ideals and societal advancement.
This prestigious multilateral event has attracted over 30 heads of state, as well as prominent representatives from the European Union and various guest nations. Furthermore, the summit will witness the participation of 14 esteemed leaders from international organizations, making it a pivotal gathering of global significance.
