Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and JD(S) State President, H.D. Kumaraswamy, emphasized that maintaining unity among party members is paramount, regardless of the election outcome.
He stressed that showcasing unity holds more significance than winning the Rajya Sabha election. Kumaraswamy highlighted the importance of demonstrating solidarity among party cadres, regardless of the election results.
Both BJP and JD(S) have fielded Kupendra Reddy as the fifth candidate in the election for four seats, expressing confidence in securing votes from independent MLAs and some Congress legislators. As the voting process commenced, most MLAs, except BJP MLA Shivaram Hebbar, participated.
There is speculation regarding Hebbar’s stance, as he has distanced himself from the party. BJP Chief Whip Doddanagouda G Patil stated that disciplinary action would be taken against any MLA who violates the party whip.
Meanwhile, Gali Janardhana Reddy, MLA from Kalyana Rajya Pragathi Paksha (KRPP), asserted that he voted according to his conscience, despite pressure from various leaders. The focus remains on maintaining party unity and adhering to party directives during the crucial RS polls.
