Dehradun: The relentless heavy rains in Uttarakhand have continued to wreak havoc, leading to landslides and flash floods across various regions of the state. Tragically, the toll of this monsoon season’s devastation stands at 52 confirmed deaths, with an additional 37 individuals reported injured.
The State Disaster Management Department has been diligently monitoring the situation. According to their assessment, the cumulative loss incurred due to the extensive monsoon rains in Uttarakhand has amounted to around ₹650 crore thus far. Regrettably, this figure is anticipated to escalate further in the days ahead. The rain-related disasters have inflicted severe consequences, resulting in the loss of lives, injuries, and the displacement of numerous residents.
The toll includes 52 fatalities, 37 individuals who have sustained injuries, and an additional 19 people who remain unaccounted for in various incidents linked to the rain-induced calamities. The situation remains dire as authorities work to mitigate the effects of these natural disasters and provide assistance to those affected.
Efforts are being directed towards managing the crisis and minimizing the impact of the ongoing heavy rains, but the situation serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of regions prone to such extreme weather events.
