Mumbai: Maharashtra is anticipated to undergo another phase of rainfall commencing from August 13th. Favorable weather patterns are predicted to bring rain to the state, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) projecting heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated regions of both the Konkan region and Vidarbha.
From August 15th onwards, widespread rainfall is expected to encompass the state, resulting in a concentrated period of heightened precipitation. It is noteworthy that during the final week of July, rain was widespread across most areas. However, as August commenced, rainfall subsided.
As per reports from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), isolated regions of the state received rainfall until August 4th. However, from August 4th to August 9th, a majority of the state experienced a lull in rainfall. The IMD attributes the current reduced rainfall to the influence of El Niño.
Several districts in Marathwada have witnessed less rainfall than initially anticipated. While Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, and Nanded districts have experienced satisfactory rainfall, others such as Satara, Sangli, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Beed, Jalna, Hingoli, Akola, and Jalgaon are still awaiting significant precipitation. The IMD’s projections indicate a resurgence of rainfall across the state after August 20th.
For the broader monsoon scenario in the country, the IMD has issued a four-week forecast. The initial two weeks are expected to witness below-average rainfall in numerous areas, followed by an anticipation of normal rainfall in the subsequent two weeks. These forecasted conditions span from August 11th to September 7th.
