New Delhi: J.P. Nadda is set to retain his position as the BJP National President until June of this year. The decision, originally made during the party’s National Executive meeting last year, was reaffirmed during the National Council meeting held on Sunday.
Last year’s extension of Nadda’s tenure until June was prompted by considerations surrounding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Following the directive of the party’s Parliamentary Board, the proposal to extend JP Nadda’s presidential tenure until June 2024 was endorsed during the BJP National Executive meeting held in Delhi in January 2023, and subsequently approved in the party’s National Council meeting.
During the meeting, the BJP National President was granted authority to make significant decisions, subject to later approval by the party’s Parliamentary Board.
Additionally, BJP National General Secretary Sunil Bansal proposed amendments to certain provisions of the party’s constitution during the national convention meeting’s second and final day, which were unanimously accepted.
