Kadala curry is one of the very famous side dish in kerala region. Everyone knows how to prepare this curry in the region and everyone loves this curry so much. This kadala curry is very delicious and made with black chickpea. Kadala curry is a very old traditional recipe. In Malayalam it’s called Kadala Kari, Kadala means Black chickpea and Kari means curry.
I love this kadala curry especially with white rice. Of course it is very well combination with puttu and idli or appam.
This curry needs little spices and little time to make because we need to soak the chickpea before using. Soaked chickpea in hand then this is very easy and quick recipe.
For preparing the curry iam using fresh coconut, this is one of the highlight ingredients for the Curry. Roasting of spices and using spice powder gives more taste to this curry. While cooking the Black channa it must be soaked very well, otherwise it will take more time to cook. This curry is made with fresh coconut, coconut oil and blended with spices so this gives a unique taste from other curry.
You can prepare kadala curry in many variety. Some people are likes thick curry and someone likes watery consistent. While I am serving with a puttu I make little water consistency because puttu is one of the dry variants. When I serve it along with rice or dosa I will make a little thick consistency.
Chickpea is very good source of protein and nutrition. This is one of the wonderful option for using black chickpea. This curry is absolutely vegan and gluten free so anyone can have it and share with everybody.
