New Delhi: Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath recently engaged in a phone conversation with Rahul Gandhi, as confirmed by his close aide Sajjan Singh Verma. Verma addressed ongoing rumors suggesting Nath and his son Nakul Nath might defect to the BJP.
Verma clarified during a press interaction that during his visit to Nath’s residence in Delhi, he found Nath preoccupied with preparations, holding a list of potential candidates for 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh.
According to Verma, Nath emphasized his current focus on establishing a balanced caste equation across the 29 Lok Sabha constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, Nath reportedly assured Verma that he had not entertained thoughts of leaving the Congress party.
Verma, who served as a minister in the Kamal Nath-led Congress government from 2018 to March 2020, further claimed that Nath discussed the upcoming Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra with Rahul Gandhi during their phone conversation. The yatra is slated to enter Madhya Pradesh soon.
Refuting media speculation about Nath’s potential departure from the Congress, Verma quoted Nath as saying that any developments would be communicated directly. Nath attributed the rumors to media creation, highlighting the imminent entry of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra into Madhya Pradesh.
