Bengaluru: Karnataka’s Leader of Opposition and a senior BJP figure R. Ashoka has affirmed that the party’s choices for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections in the state are guided by a dual focus on winning potential and providing opportunities to emerging leaders within the party.
In discussions with the media, Ashoka emphasized that the selection process encompasses both established party veterans and fresh faces, with careful consideration given to the performance of incumbent MPs. He stated that the final decisions will be made by the party High Command.
Deliberations have been conducted for all 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state, with some candidate selections still pending. Ashoka anticipates that the list of candidates will be unveiled imminently, potentially within the next day.
Adding weight to this assertion, former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai indicated that the BJP’s candidate roster is prepared for release. He disclosed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have scrutinized the candidate list, indicating near-finalization save for a few constituencies.
