Karnataka Forest Department Introduces HAWK System to Combat Wildlife Crimes

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Forest Department, in collaboration with the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), has unveiled the Hostile Activity Watch Kernel (HAWK) system, a specialized software solution aimed at enhancing the monitoring of forest and wildlife crimes across the state. HAWK is designed to keep a close watch on various activities, including the unlawful killing of wildlife, suspected criminal actions, and the movements of suspicious vehicles.

One of the key features of the HAWK system is its built-in analytical capabilities, which empower officials to effectively track and manage wildlife crimes throughout Karnataka. This software is further supported by digital services company NTT Data.

The HAWK system collects and centralizes information on wildlife crimes and related incidents from the field. This data enables forest officials to respond proactively and swiftly, taking necessary actions and implementing countermeasures when required. The system plays a crucial role in safeguarding Karnataka’s diverse wildlife and natural resources from illegal activities.
