Bengaluru: The Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Karnataka Assembly R.Ashoka and BJP MLA, declared on Monday the party’s intent to launch a campaign aimed at removing the Congress government from power in the state.
Following the Governor’s address, BJP legislators initiated ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chants, prompting a response from Congress legislators with the same slogans, along with ‘Jai Bhim’ chants by some Congress MLAs.
Speaking to reporters, Ashoka emphasized, “We will embark on a struggle to expel the Congress government from both the legislative house and the public domain.”
Ashoka criticized the Karnataka Congress government, citing allegations from the State Contractor’s Association President D. Kempanna regarding commission charges and accusing the government of neglecting farmers and exacerbating water scarcity issues.
He further alleged, “Since the CM Siddaramaiah-led Congress government came to power, Karnataka has been plagued by drought. The treasury is depleted, with a significant portion of funds lining the pockets of Congress leaders.”
During the Assembly session, BJP MLAs donned saffron shawls in protest against what party sources described as the “anti-Hindu policy” of the CM Siddaramaiah-led Congress government.
