New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has described the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as “illegal and politically motivated,” alleging that they were sent on the request of the BJP. Kejriwal further claimed that the notice was intended to hinder his election campaigning in four states and called for its immediate withdrawal.
This development comes as Kejriwal is set to appear before the ED for questioning regarding the now-scrapped excise policy. In this case, several AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, have already been arrested. It marks the first time the Chief Minister has been summoned by the central agency in connection with the alleged liquor scam, with his previous questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in April of the same year.
Before attending the ED office, Kejriwal is expected to visit Rajghat. In anticipation of his ED questioning, the Delhi Police has deployed a substantial number of security personnel around both the agency’s office and Rajghat.
