Kharge Lambasts BJP Government on Soaring Unemployment

New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge took a swipe at the BJP government on Sunday, addressing the pressing concern of unemployment. In a statement on ‘X’, Kharge emphasized the severity of the issue, citing a 10% unemployment rate for individuals aged 15-29 (PLFS: July 2022-June 2023).

Kharge pointed out that in rural India, the unemployment rate is 8.3%, while in urban areas, it climbs to 13.8%. Expressing the concerns of the youth, he questioned the disappearance of the promised two crore jobs annually, the complexity in the journey from recruitment exams to securing a job, and the detrimental impact on the MSME sector.

He remarked, ‘Why were jobs of millions of youth taken away, and their future jeopardized?’ The Congress has consistently criticized the government on issues of unemployment and inflation.
