Lemon Ginger Rasam

Lemon Ginger Rasam is a very healthy and traditional recipe. This rasam is spicy and tangy in taste, it is a very famous rasam in the South. In our local language this saaru is known as nimbu saaru. All over south this rasam is popular in different names.

It is one of the simple recipes, Lemon rasam is not thick like sambar or any other curry.  It is water consistent rasam, but the taste and flavor of rasam always touches the taste buds. This rasam is a completely Vegan recipe. This rasam needs a handful of ingredients and I have not added any dal or vegetables for making the rasam. Some people are using dal, tomato or rasam powder while preparing the lemon rasam. I liked the plain flavor of lemon so didn’t add any of these.

The Simple masala is prepared for making rasam that is ground black pepper and ginger for spiciness along with jeera to get the nice aroma. More than black pepper can be added to green chilli or chilli powder for spiciness, but I prefer black pepper for this rasam. The turmeric powder spice goes well with rasam and gives a good color to the rasam. The simple tempering is enough for this rasam to give great taste.

In our home this is the most common rasam, because if anyone has a digestion issue, not having to taste to eat, someone suffers from cold and cough. This is one of the best rasam to give in the postpartum of pregnancy. If someone needs a light dinner you can offer rice with this lemon rasam easily.

The simple trick or simple rule when you are preparing this lemon rasam is you should add lemon juice after turning off the flame. Otherwise rasam may lead to bitterness. So always keep in mind not to boil rasam after adding lemon juice. This is one of the basic and important tip while you are preparing the lemon rasam.

Lemon rasam is served with hot rice with vegetable fry. This is the best combination, otherwise it is also served like soup as an appetizer for cold and cough.

Try this tasty and super delicious rasam in your home. Share your opinion by comments and support me. Thank you guys for coming here and catching my version of recipes. Stay connected to the next interesting recipes.
