Mahila Congress Launches ‘Nari Nyay Padyatra’ Nationwide

Agartala: The President of All India Mahila Congress, Alka Lamba, made startling revelations on Tuesday, asserting that BJP-ruled Tripura ranks second in the northeastern region for crimes against women. Lamba announced the launch of a ‘Nari Nyay Padyatra’ that will traverse all districts across the country.

Speaking to the media at the state Congress headquarters, Lamba criticized the BJP’s ‘Beti Bachao’ campaign, accusing the party of protecting individuals accused of crimes such as rape, molestation, and assault. She highlighted instances involving current and former BJP leaders and elected representatives facing allegations of crimes against women.

Lamba emphasized the absence of significant efforts towards women’s employment, empowerment, and protection during the BJP’s tenure. The Mahila Congress, she stated, is organizing various awareness programs to unite women nationwide. The primary objective is to bolster the organization and conduct a ‘Nari Nyay Padyatra’ in every district across India.

Citing a recent incident in Kamalpur, Tripura, where a magistrate allegedly molested a rape survivor during her statement recording, Lamba criticized the deteriorating situation for women in the state. Referring to Ministry of Home Affairs figures, she highlighted escalating rape cases in Tripura, portraying the state as unsafe for women.

Lamba condemned the BJP-led governments in northeastern states for exacerbating the plight of women. She accused the government of siding with perpetrators of crimes against women, even providing them legal and financial assistance.
