minor girls missing case: Probe ordered into functioning of children home in Kanpur

Kanpur: Investigation Launched into Operations of Children’s Home in Kanpur. District Magistrate Visakh G. Iyer Initiates Inquiry into Both Incidents.

Sources from GCH have revealed that the two missing underage girls were transferred to the facility from Kanpur Dehat, with one arrival on July 31 and the other on August 3. The placement of both girls at GCH was executed in accordance with the directives of the Juvenile Justice Board of Kanpur Dehat.

According to the District Probation Officer (DPO), Jaideep Singh, the midday break at the shelter home commences at 12.30 p.m. Upon initial counting during this interval, all girls were confirmed to be present.

However, when a subsequent count was performed at 1 p.m. following a staff shift change, it was discovered that two girls were no longer accounted for. This incident occurred on Monday.

Promptly, an extensive search was initiated; and upon the unsuccessful location of the girls, both higher authorities and the police were promptly notified.

Regarding the unfortunate demise of the infant, aged two and a half months, the DPO shared that the child and its mother had arrived from Lalitpur and the child had been ailing.

“We intend to conduct a post-mortem examination on the infant’s remains. The child was nursed by the mother at night and was discovered deceased in the morning. Reports suggest the child had been unwell for the preceding several days,” he commented.
