New Delhi: The government of India is willing to engage in a discussion on the situation in Manipur. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi stated that Home Minister Amit Shah, who visited Manipur, is prepared to address the concerns in Parliament. However, Joshi expressed confusion over the Opposition’s reluctance to engage in a dialogue on the matter.
Similarly, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting accused the Opposition of politicizing the issue and avoiding discussions in Parliament. He criticized the Opposition MPs, claiming that they visited Manipur but have been unwilling to engage in discussions on similar issues in West Bengal and Rajasthan.
Recently, a delegation of Opposition MPs from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) visited Manipur and met with the Governor, submitting a memorandum to urge peace restoration in the Northeastern state.
The Opposition, led by the Congress party, has been holding Chief Minister N. Biren Singh responsible for the crisis in Manipur and has called for his dismissal. Ethnic clashes have been ongoing in Manipur since May 3, resulting in a significant loss of lives and thousands of people seeking refuge in relief camps.
